What is the best time to visit Astorga in 2025?

Astorga is a historic city surrounded by villages where you can lose yourself and enjoy a unique gastronomy. The best time to visit Astorga is in spring (between April and June) and autumn (September and October), with mild temperatures and many sunny days. The climate in Astorga is predominantly dry, with very cold winters (snow is not uncommon) and dry, hot summers during the day, with cool nights.

If you are looking to enjoy some of the traditional Spanish fiestas in Astorga, here is the calendar for 2025.

March: On the weekend of 7-9 March Astorga celebrates its traditional Carnival festivities, known as Piñata, with a huge parade involving people and groups from all over the province of León and neighbouring provinces. The following weekend the city hosts the Salón Internacional del Chocolate de Astorga, a unique opportunity to discover the local chocolate.

April: Easter Week 2025 is celebrated between 11 and 20 April. Astorga is a city that grew up around its Cathedral and lives these festivities intensely. Almost half of the population participates in one way or another. The big days are Maundy Thursday (17th April) and Good Friday (18th April).

May: on the weekend of 1 to 4 May, Astorga hosts a gastronomic fair with cheese as the star ingredient.

June: on 7 and 8 June, Hospital de Órbigo (15 kilometres from Astorga) hosts its famous medieval jousting, with a medieval market that covers much of the town.

July: on the weekend of 25-27 July, Astorga hosts a re-enactment of Roman times that attracts re-enactors from all over Spain and Portugal. A Roman camp and an Asturian settlement coexist in the Parque del Melgar, the heart of the Astures y Romanos festivities.

August: between 22 and 31 August Astorga hosts its festivities, with concerts and activities for all ages.

September: the Astorga Film Festival is held in the first days of September.

October: on 11 and 12 October, a mycological products fair is held in the city.

November: a trade fair dedicated to honey is held in Astorga on 1 and 2 November.
