The total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026 will be visible in Astorga (Spain) at dusk. It will begin shortly after 7.30 pm, last just under two hours, and reach its peak around 8.30 pm. With the sun about to set, you’ll need to find spots with a clear view to the west to watch it, always taking the necessary precautions. Astorga is situated on top of a hill, so there are many places in the town that offer an unobstructed view to the west. This is the first solar eclipse visible from the Iberian Peninsula in over a century, so many people are keen to see it.
Astorga Cathedral offers a unique experience: LUX IN VIIS will allow visitors to view the eclipse from the roof of the Cathedral during a one-off tour lasting a total of three hours, which will take in some of the areas not usually included in regular tours. The ticket also includes certified eclipse viewing glasses. Places are limited, so it is recommended that you book as soon as possible.
